Patio Inspired

Hello again... anyone there?
We have been some serious MIA with this blog here. We definitely apologize for this. I don't really know how wonderful we are at blogging BUT we did find this wonderful patio floor designed by one of our friends at Lov Your Space

Let me tell you about it!

Recently I was toying with the idea of recovering my couch pillows that are in need of some serious love as the pillows we got at Crate&Barrel seem to not hold up very well. The seems are all busted and feathers everywhere. Anyways... I had been wanting to maybe do a granny square pillow and then I started to toy with the idea of doing a quilt block... but kind of modern it up a bit. So I did some lookings at some other quilt blocks and came up with this one:

With the aid of photoshop I was able to easily make the squares and triangles that would fit the size of my pillows and then it also makes it easy to color in the different shapes to make any pattern I want! Seriously the possibilities are incredibly endless and it never gets old!

So I posted this picture on my personal Instagram (carlymiko) and one of my friends saw it and got crazy inspired to do something like this for her patio floor!!! When she asked me for permission to do it (which I was super honored) I was absolutely floored (ha!) by the idea of this.... it's absolutely genius and it came out amazing!!!

Jon Klassen- This Is Not My Hat

We are excited about the new Jon Klassen book, This Is Not My Hat

All of our kids were all over his first book, I Want My Hat Back. So we were so stoked when he came out with his new installment of hat + animal story bookery.

As always he has amazing drawings of adorable (and shiffty eyed) animals... in this case a little fish, a big fish, and a crab. And his underwater scenes are amazing! The sensibilty of his color pallets and his layouts are hard to beat.... I mean, geez, look at that....

Go out and get this book. Support awesome people. Let your kids read with good stuff to look at.

Jon Klassen... the man, the myth, the LA dodger hat wearing amazingly nice and awesome author and artist!

Your kids will thank you for being so rad to them!
